On Thursday 22nd August 2002, Harrison & Hetherington conducted their monthly sale of breeding cows and heifers with calves or in calf and bulling heifers.

Another large show of cattle were forward with buyers present from all parts of the United Kingdom All classes sold well throughout and prices maintained high levels seen in recent sales.

Included was the dispersal from Scalehill Farming Ptrs of Castlemilk Estates, Lockerbie. The cattle were presented in immaculate condition being a credit to their stockman. Bidders from throughout Scotland and the North of England bid freely and as a result a satisfactory trade ensured.

Top price of the day was £1200 reached twice from stock consigned from Mr G Hewitson of Kinghill, Walton, Carlisle and Mr W Ousby of The Bents, Newbiggin-on-Lune, Kirkby Stephen.

Bulling heifers were shown in smaller amounts, with an ample crowd of buyers in attendance. Bidding for the better quality sorts was strong, whilst others were easier.
