On Thursday 25th April 2002, Harrison & Hertherington held their monthly sale of beef breeding cattle when they presented an entry of 284 cows and heifers with calves or in calf together with 381 bulling heifers.

Suckler cows and calves were not as numerous, but comprised a nice quality selection. An extremely large company of buyers was present who had travelled from all parts of the UK.

Quality outfits were keenly sought after attracting bids to £1580 for a Belgian Blue heifer with calf consign by Mr G Steel of The Laurells, Dundraw, Wigton.

In the bulling heifer section quality was much improved and interest from buyers was keen especially for quality well grown pens of heifers.
