On Friday 8th March 2002, Harrison & Hetherington conducted their first catalogued breeding cattle sale of the season.

Prospective bidders filled the ringside coming from all parts of the country. Quality of stock on offer was not up to the usual high standard however superior outfits met a very brisk trade as prices greatly exceeded vendors expections.

The top price of the day was £1650 for a superb Blonde cross heifer outfit consigned by regular vendors Messrs Ousby, The Bents, Newbiggin on Lune, Kirkby Stephen.

In the bulling heifer section a small number of very high quality animals were greatly sought after, with regular consignors A W & A Pattinson, Oakshaw Hill topping the market with a exceptional pen of heifers selling for £700.
