ON FARM SALE OF MACHINERY, IMPLEMENTS AND SMALL TOOLS

AT ABBEY FARM, LANERCOST, BRAMPTON, CARLISLE.

Around 400 people attended Harrison & Hetherington’s first large on-farm sale since the foot and mouth crisis on Tuesday November 20th 2001 at Abbey Farm, Lanercost, near Brampton.

The sale for Alan Foster, who has retired from farming, was scheduled for the spring but had to be postponed because of foot and mouth restrictions.

The large crowd, which included many friends and neighbours, had to undergo strict biosecurity measures supervised by Defra.

Topping the prices for the excellent selection of tractors, implements, hand tools and other items was an R registered MF 4225 tractor which made £9,700. A second MF 362 with front end loader sold for £7,500.
