Dairy Cattle Weekly Sale Reports 2012

Weekly sales of Dairy cattle are held at Borderway each Wednesday
commencing at 10.45am.

Wednesday 16th May 2012
A smaller entry which attracted as much interest as ever. The milk price, Euro and bad weather did not affect trade which was as keen as in previous weeks.

Wednesday 2nd May 2012
Cows were forward in larger numbers with all classes selling to maintain recent high rates.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £1720 East Wharmley, British Friesian £1520, £1400 Calvo, Holstein Friesian in Calf, £1050 (x2), £1000 (x2) Kilfillan Holding, Bulling Heifers £950 (x2), £920, £900 Kilfillan Holding

Wednesday 25th April
A similar number of cows were forward with trade maintaining recent high rates.

Wednesday 18th April
Cows sold well on the week with all classes selling to exceed last week’s trade.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £2300 Greenriggs, £1800, £1680, £1500 Evertown Farm, £1420 Dovenby Craggs Farm, British Friesian £1300 Lowfield House.

Wednesday 11th April
A smaller show of dairy cattle were offered with good new calved heifers selling to £1900 with older 3rd and 4th calved cows selling over £1000 barrier.

Wednesday 4th April
Commercial dairy cattle were forward in fewer numbers with a good trade seen throughout.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £1580 Seaville Cote, £1500 Cumdivock Farm, £1420, £1400 Blue House Farm, £1400 Drigg Moorside, £1400 Langrigg Hall, £1380 Street House, £1320 Breckney Hill.

Wednesday 28th March
A smaller show of cattle were on offer with all classes selling to maintain recent high rates.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £2000 Glebe Farm, £1450 Seaville Cote, Shorthorn £1450 Waters Farm

Wednesday 21st March
All classes of cattle on offer, with top quality heifers selling to exceed vendors expectations.  All other classes selling to maintain recent high rates.
 
Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £2080, £2000 Glebe Farm, £2020, £1700 Seaville Cote, £1550 Buckabank Farm, British Friesian £1220 Lowfield House.

On Wednesday 14th March
A poorer show of cattle were on offer to a smaller attendance of bidders but all cattle still sold well.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £1650 The Buildings, £1500 Seaville Cote, Ayrshire £1500 Plumpton Foot Farm, British Friesian £1200 Calvo.

On Wednesday 7th March
Demand for fresh dairy animals remain strong with buyers looking for animals with the ability to last for a few extra lactations.

Wednesday 29th February
A good show of cattle was forward with all classes selling to maintain recent high rates.

Wednesday 22nd February
A smaller show of cows were on offer with all classes selling to exceed vendors expectations.

Wednesday 15th February
One of the largest shows of commercial dairy cattle seen in the county for some time. All classes sold to maintain recent high rates.

Wednesday 8th February
Cows were forward in similar numbers as last week but with quality lacking trade was seen to be as sharp as last week.

Holstein Friesian £1650 The Harras, Jersey £1300 Stone Raise, British Friesian £1200 Lake View.

Wednesday 1st February
Cattle were forward in similar numbers with all classes selling to exceed vendors expectations.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £2180 Highfield, £1950, £1650 Plumpton Foot Farm, £1550 Seaville Cote, £1450 High Wreay Farm, £1350 Evertown Farm, Holstein 1650 Evertown Farm.

Wednesday 25th January
A small show of cattle was offered to a large ring side of bidders. The sale averaged £1895 and all cattle sold to exceed vendors expectations.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £2080 Barrowling, £2080 Pears Ghyll, British Friesian £1820 Grange Grassings, £1600 Calvo.

Wednesday 18th January
Dairy cows were forward in similar numbers as last week with all classes selling to exceed recent high rates. A batch of in calf heifers from Messrs Simpson, Riggfoot, Kirklinton sold to a top of £1820 to average £1430.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £2080 Down Hall, £1980, £1880 Barrowling, £1800 Plumpton Foot Farm, £1580 Drigg Moorside, £1450 Gerrard House.
In calf heifers £1820, £1620, £1600, £1580 Riggfoot House.

Wednesday 11th January
A smaller show of dairy cattle were offered to a good ringside of customers with all classes much dearer on the week.

Leading prices: Holstein Friesian £2300 Barrowling, Holstein £2120 Woodhouse Farm, £1500, £1450 Nelson Hill Farm, British Friesian £1480 Lowfield House.

Wednesday 4th January
A smaller show of dairy cattle was on offer to a large attendance of buyers. All classes selling to exceed recent high rates and many more could have been sold easily.
