Harrison and Hetherington held their monthly show and sale of Holstein
cattle on behalf of the Border and Lakeland Club on Wednesday 15th February
at Borderway, Carlisle. Recent sales had seen record averages with demand
for milking animals far outweighing the numbers being offered on the
open market. Although the average remained at an impressive £2140 there
were heifers to be purchased at very good value with the top end animals
seeing the biggest decline in direct comparison to the previous month.
The official judge was the talented Mr Craig Cochrane from the much admired Maverick herd in Ayrshire, Scotland. His overall champion went to the first place senior heifer in milk owned by KJ & CS Wilson of Wood Farm; Mr Cochrane later purchased the heifer for the top price of the day for 2,600gns. She was Wanelview Bingo Frances 2 going back to two Excellent cows with high lifetime production.
