Spring Sale of Working and Unbroken Sheep Dogs and Puppies

On Wednesday 11th May Harrison & Hetherington held its annual sale of Working & Unbroken Sheep Dogs and Puppies within Lazonby Mart where an entry of 45 was brought forward for sale.

A large crowd from all parts of the UK & Ireland descended on Lazonby with many commenting that the turnout was the largest at this sale so far,

Bidding was brisk throughout with quality dogs in great demand from start to finish resulting in a record price being paid for a dog at this centre.

The record breaker was Lot 31, “Mist”, a black, white & tan 15th month old bitch from Mr K Thompson, Woodmans Cottage. This dog caught the eye from the outset being classy in all aspects of the field. After a marvellous run she was knocked down for 3,800 gns selling to Mr Crowther, Oldham.

Earlier in the day the record had been broken by M/s. R Hutchinson & Sons, Valley Farm who sold Lot 9 “Fern”, a classy Black, White & Tan bitch for 3,200 gns after she had shown great eye in the field.

Topping the unbroken section was Lot 20 “Tan”, a blue merle bitch who showed a lot of promise in the pen selling for 280 gns.

Overall working dogs averaged £1,303.75 with unbroken dogs & puppies averaging £120.17
