Middleton in Teesdale - Prize Show & Sale of Store Cattle

An outstanding show of cattle throughout was on show at Harrison & Hetherington Ltd’s, Middleton in Teesdale mart for the Special Show and Sale held on the 16th February.

Rigg Farm

Topping at £3,000 was and excellent Limousin heifer consigned by Messrs J C & J White, Rigg Farm and purchased by Phil and Sharon Sellers.  An excellent consignment of 12 cattle from Messrs White averaged £1,555.  The Pre sale show, sponsored by Eden Farm Supplies, Philip Holden (Rural), I’Anson Bros Ltd, Natural Stockcare Ltd, Minsups Ltd and Novartis Animal Health was very capably judged by Mr Harry Emslie who awarded the Champion to a classy Limousin heifer from Messrs White.  Mr Emslie backed his judgement and later went onto buy the heifer for £1,550.  Reserve Champion went to another excellent Limousin heifer also consigned by Messrs White, later fetching £2,200 purchased by Mr A Dickinson, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. 

The Sale average for heifers was £677, up £72 on the year with bullocks averaging £734, up £17 on the year.  The overall sale average was £702 which was £43 up on the year.
