At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 3rd March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle. The usual ringside of prospective purchasers were present, bullocks were particularly good to sell whilst heifers were slightly cheaper on the week.

Weanlings

On Wednesday 3rd March 2010 at their Borderway Mart, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of weanlings. What a show of 402 outstanding weanlings were presented to a large ring side of buyers with many new buyers from all parts of the Country ensuring a flying trade.

Calves

On Wednesday 3rd March Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their weekly sale of calves. A larger than expected 312 calves were forward. Trade remained undoubtedly buoyant with the huge array of purchasers out in force to buy all classes of calves although quality was poorer.

Top price of £410 was achieved twice for British Blue bull calves from Messrs RT & AM Pattinson, Kinkry Hill, Roadhead and Messrs Edmondson, Brecon Hill, Raughton Head. Messrs Edmondson had another at £405. MG & S Harper, West House, Dearham had the top priced Limousin Bull at £405. Leading the heifer section was an Aberdeen Angus at £400 from Firm of RF Forsyth, Baltier Farm, Whithorn and a Limousin again at £400 from TA & ML Jackson, Guillyhill, Holywood, Dumfries. Many Black and white calves were forward and sold to a top of £212 while younger calves sold to £30-£40 regularly.
