A good clearance was achieved at the annual show and sale of rams and females for the British Bleu du Maine sheep society held at Borderway.

Shearling Ram Class Judging

Taking the top price of the sale was the Millenium Bleu champion of the event, a stylish eye catching shearling gimmer shown by Lanarkshire breeder Gavin Shanks of Carluke. Inveresk Griselda, an April 2009 born daughter of a homebred ram, was sold to fellow breeder Richard Pilkington of the Aintree flock based near Wrexham.

Ram Lamb Class Judging

Next to follow was a Millenium shearling ram coming from the Calla pen of William Baillie from Lanarkshire. This March born 2009 entry is by a home bred ram going back to Langley Cannon on the mothers pedigree. He was knocked down to P Whyte & Sons of Crieff, Perthshire.

Also from the Calla pen of Millenium Bleus came the next price tag of 840gns. This shearling ram carries similar breeding lines to the previous lot and was sold to the judge of the event Jim Reid of Bengall Farm, Lockerbie.

Male & Supreme Champion shown by Messrs Vile & Norman and sold for 700gns

In the pure Bleu section of the sale the top price went to a shearling ram offered y Somerset breeders Messrs Vile & Norman of the Haydon flock. Selling for 700gns was the male and overall champion a January born ram by Maximum Ever Ready and out of an Alfie bred dam. He also goes to back with the judge Mr Reid to Lockerbie.

Leading the female section was a ewe lamb shown by William Baillie of the Calla flock. Calla Holly, a group one triplet born lamb is a daughter of Cysgod Daniel and out of a Langley bred mother. This appealing little lady was sold to G Richardson of Wasdale, Seascale.
