New Sale Attracts Strong Interest

A new British Blue cattle society show and sale at Carlisle attracted strong interest and reached a top price of 9,000gns on two occasions.

Firstly to reach the top spot was the days supreme champion shown by Michele Wilde of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Her 23 month old home bred bull, Ridge Dean Dynamo, was an extremely clean, long stylish bull carrying an excellent pedigree. Dynamo, a son of the noted Empire D’Ochain and bred from the highly acclaimed herd cow Ridge Dean Jessie, he attracted the attention of NG Beveridge of Tow Law, Co.Durham.

The second 9,000gn entry followed next into the sale ring also coming from the Ridge Dean herd of Michele Wilde. This time it was a full ET brother to her last entry, Ridge Dean Delta an outstanding modern bull showing tremendous growth and style. He was sold to west Cumbrian enthusiast SG Benson of Pennington, Ulverston.

The first entry to the sale secured the next leading price tag of 8,500gns. Northern Ireland breeder Oliver McGuiness of Co.Londonderry sold Clonmore Ben, a son of Baron du Bois Bauloye and out of a Victorieux bred home bred daughter. Ben has been successfully shown during the last season collecting Junior Male, Overall Male and Supreme Championship at RUAS and on his second show outing he won the Bull Derby at Castlewellan Show. He was knocked down to Messrs Metcalfe of Penrith.

Next call went to the youngest entry of the bull section coming from Andrew Craig of Co.Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Selling for 7,800gns was Woodview D Best an eyecatching young bull by Empire D’Ochain and bred from a Ridge Dean Physical sired daughter going back to the heart of Woodview breeding through his mothers pedigree. He was successfully purchased by the judge of the pre-sale show, Richard Carter of the Twyning Ash herd based in Gloucestershire.

A full ET brother to the last entry from the Woodview herd of Andrew Craigs went for 6,200gns. Woodview Dave was a typical example of the Empire and Alice combination and sold to Norfolk enthusiasts Messrs Blaxell of Norwich.
