A new British Blue cattle society show and sale at Carlisle attracted
strong interest and reached a top price of 9,000gns on two occasions.
Firstly to reach the top spot was the days supreme champion shown by
Michele Wilde of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Her 23 month old home
bred bull, Ridge Dean Dynamo, was an extremely clean, long stylish bull
carrying an excellent pedigree. Dynamo, a son of the noted Empire D’Ochain
and bred from the highly acclaimed herd cow Ridge Dean Jessie, he attracted
the attention of NG Beveridge of Tow Law, Co.Durham.

The second 9,000gn entry followed next into the sale ring also coming from the Ridge Dean herd of Michele Wilde. This time it was a full ET brother to her last entry, Ridge Dean Delta an outstanding modern bull showing tremendous growth and style. He was sold to west Cumbrian enthusiast SG Benson of Pennington, Ulverston.
The first entry to the sale secured the next leading price tag of 8,500gns.
Northern Ireland breeder Oliver McGuiness of Co.Londonderry sold Clonmore
Ben, a son of Baron du Bois Bauloye and out of a Victorieux bred home
bred daughter. Ben has been successfully shown during the last season
collecting Junior Male, Overall Male and Supreme Championship at RUAS
and on his second show outing he won the Bull Derby at Castlewellan Show.
He was knocked down to Messrs Metcalfe of Penrith.
Next call went to the youngest entry of the bull section coming from
Andrew Craig of Co.Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Selling for 7,800gns
was Woodview D Best an eyecatching young bull by Empire D’Ochain and
bred from a Ridge Dean Physical sired daughter going back to the heart
of Woodview breeding through his mothers pedigree. He was successfully
purchased by the judge of the pre-sale show, Richard Carter of the Twyning
Ash herd based in Gloucestershire.
A full ET brother to the last entry from the Woodview herd of Andrew
Craigs went for 6,200gns. Woodview Dave was a typical example of the
Empire and Alice combination and sold to Norfolk enthusiasts Messrs Blaxell
of Norwich.

Topping the female section of the sale was the events female and reserve
supreme champion. Strathearn Cinderella, a maiden heifer exhibited by
Dermot and Gareth Small of Co.Down, N.Ireland. She is sired by Tamhorn
Sumo and is out of the successful Ridge Dean Wilful cow who has bred
many high priced progeny of the years. Cinderella sold to Alan Barnes
to join his Cowden herd based at Blackburn, Lancs.
Following at 3,100gns was an eight month old heifer calf shown by Mel
and Diane Lucas of Co.Antrim, N.Ireland. Lukeroyal Emerald is a daughter
of Springbank Blackstar, full brother to the noted Bringlee Blackstar
bull, and bred out of Lukeroyal Blondie who despite her name is a 100%
black daughter of Twyning Ash Vaughan. Emerald was knocked down to TA
Hughes of Lampeter, Ceredigion.
