Shetland Pony show and sale on behalf of the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society |

A nice quality show of Shetland ponies were consigned at the annual autumn show and sale on behalf of the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society, when a catalogued entry of 180 ponies were presented for sale.
Taking the top price of the event was a tiny filly foal shown by Derbyshire breeder Judy Freer of the Merrylees Stud. Merrylees Gucci, a March 2010 born piebald coloured foal, is sired by the 29 inch Merrylees Pickpocket stallion and was sold for 1,200gns to Mr T Dunne of Appleby, Cumbria.
Following at 800gns were two entries. The first came from Mr JE Butterfield of Barnsley with his sole entry Hermits Lotus Flower who also won the Championship Miniature Foal award at the pre-sale judging. Lotus Flower is a piebald miniature filly foal and is bred by Hermits Splendour and out of a South Sands Jackanapes bred mother. She sold to Lawsons Hazelwood Ltd of Carnforth.
Also selling for 800gns was a yearling filly consigned by Messrs A & SG Butterfield of Gawber, Yorkshire. Hermits Camellia, a piebald May 2009 born entry, may be one of the last fillies to be offered for sale from the noted Hippominimus Ebony stallion. Camellia sold to Messrs Brass of Kirkby Stephen.
