Pedigree Dairy Day
Wednesday 24th November 2010

The late November Border & Lakeland Show & Sale at Borderway, Carlisle despite the weather which depleted numbers forward, attracted several really classy fresh heifers. These included the overall Champion – an awesome uddered homebred daughter of Bomaz Homestead from the Telfer’s famous, long established Dixie family – “Branchal Homestead Dixie 242”. The Telfer family’s “Branchal” herd of Holsteins is the oldest Black and White herd in the UK and celebrated the Holstein Society’s Anniversary last year with a very successful production sale at Borderway. This heifer made 2000gns abd was bought by Messrs Clark of the Whins, Ecclefechan, who also succeeded in taking the top price heifer, the 2200gns Boclair Merchant Barbara 4 from Messrs Brewster’s herd near Glasgow.

Champion – Ian Plews from Cogent, Cheryl Watson from Paragon, Branchal Homstead Dixie 242 with Andrew Telfer, and James Telfer
