Kirkby Stephen Mule Gimmer Lambs
Thursday 9th and Friday 10th September 2010

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd. held their Annual prize show and sale of 9,660 Mule Gimmer Lambs for members of the North of England Mule Sheep Association at Kirkby Stephen Mart.

The sale was conducted in front of a packed ringside with purchasers from throughout the country and Scotland. A total clearance was achieved, with 380 more sold on the year. The sale averaged a marvellous £91.41 (up £11.51 on the year).

The show, held the previous evening was kindly sponsored by Farm Sense in conjunction with Eden Farm Supplies (Brough) Ltd., NB UK, Carr’s Billington Agriculture and Dugdale Nutrition, and was judged by Mr W Skelton, Mr D Woolacott with Mr B Davidson as Referee.

Taking top honours and lifting the overall championship cup was a very eye-catching pen of lambs , which where a credit to the breed consigned by local breeders Andrew and Mark Brown of Asby Hall, which went on to realise a centre record of £500, selling to local enthusiasts Fran and Ron Wilson, Armathwaite.
