Borderway Other Continental In-lamb Sheep

Out with the official pedigree breed society shows and sales, the annual sale of continental in lamb sheep was held and attracted a nice entry of Dutch Texels, Texels, Blue Texels and White Dorpers. Also this day was a special consignment of Beltex / Texel / Dutch in lamb females shown by James & Thomas Whiteford of Tercrosset Hall, Brampton.

The sale started with the Dutch Texels shown by Jan Rodenburg of the Turbo flock based near Llandysul. Topping this section was March born two shear ewe sired by Den Burg King and in lamb to Turbo Romeo. She was sold to M Davis of Lancaster. The consignment of 13 females averages £301.27.

Heading up the Texel section was a gimmer consigned by local breeder Giles Pyman of Penrith. His home bred entry sired by a Haltcliffe ram sold for 360gns and was knocked down to Messrs Strickland of Whinfell, Kendal.

The Blue Texels sold up to 460gns for a two shear ewe shown by Messrs Campbelll of Ballantrae, Ayrshire. This entry was secured by Cormack McDowell Partners of Eastriggs, Dumfriesshire.

The White Dorpers entry was consigned by Matthew Simpson of Kilmarnock. The top price was 360gns for a ewe and was purchased by Sowerby Parks Farm of Thirsk.

The entry of in lamb Beltex, Texel and Dutch crosses shown by James and Thomas Whiteford, sold to a top price of 500gns on three occasions. Other prices included 460gns, 420gns twice, and 400gns twice. The consignment of 42 sheep averaged £352.25.
