Tercrosset Production Sale

On Friday 27th August Harrison & Hetherington held the annual production sale of 100 Texel cross, Dutch Texel cross and Beltex cross shearling rams together with 120 gimmers and 83 ewe lambs on behalf of Thomas and James Whiteford of Tercrosset Farm, West Hall, Brampton.

A superb selection of very well presented rams and females once again met with great interest and credit must go to the Whiteford family for the effort and expertise to present such a marvellous run of breeding sheep.

100 shearling rams were presented with tremendous conformation and strength evident throughout. Shearlings sold to a top price of 1,800gns for an extremely tight skinned Texel shearling ram with an outstanding carcase which was purchased by regular customers Messrs Knight of Church Style Farm, Wasdale. In total five lots broke the 1,000gns barrier with the next highest call at 1,300gns for another powerful Beltex cross shearling. The overall average for the consignment of 100 shearling rams was £610.99.

120 shearling gimmers were offered for sale and demand was strong throughout selling to a top price of 460gns each for a pen of three outstanding females purchased by Messrs Semple of Dalrymple, Ayrshire. Other leading prices included 380gns and 310gns. 120 gimmers averaged £245.52.

Top price in the ewe lamb section was 280gns each for a pair of lambs which were class winners at this years Royal Highland Show and Great Yorkshire Show. Other top prices included 140gns twice and 135gns. 83 ewe lambs averaged £118.22.

Leading prices: Rams – 1800gns, 1300gns, 1000gns (x3), 950gns, 920gns (x2), 900gns. Females – 460gns (x3), 380gns (x4), 310gns (x3).
