TURBO DUTCH TEXEL SHEEP

The annual production sale of Dutch Texel sheep from the Turbo flock of Jan Rodenburg based at Llandysul, Ceredigion was held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle. The interest for the Dutch Texel proved to be strong as buyers were attracted to attend from as far north as Aberdeenshire and from the South West county of Devon.

The sale topped at 2,000gns for a group one March born shearling ram, Turbo Opera, sired by Turbo Monarch and out of a home-bred daughter of Turbo Genetics. This stylish, shapey ram was sold to joint purchasers Stuart Wood of Inverurie and Brian Ryder of Moffat, Dumfriesshire.

A few lots earlier saw another group one shearling ram sell for 1,500gns. Turbo Ohama, a son of Turbo Magnum and from a Mormon sired mother, he was purchased by Derbyshire enthusiast Matthew Prince of Chesterfield.

Also reaching the four figure price tag at 1,050gns was one of the two stock rams forward for sale, Turbo Magnum. This two shear Turbo Kaliber son, out of a Turbo Energy bred ewe, also travels north for Stuart Wood of Inverurie.

Leading the female section of the sale at 600gns was a shearling gimmer. A March born daughter of Turbo Monarch and out of a C.Kikkert Kees sired mother, she stays local for JB & SM Mounsey of Laversdale, Carlisle.
