The largest show of Beltex sheep to ever come under the hammer was held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle for the Beltex Sheep Society premier show and sale. The event attracted considerable interest for this increasing breed of continental sheep.

| Llwynbrain Mallet |
It was Herefordshire breeder, Steve Gibbons of Hay-on-Wye, who secured the top price of the day a bid of 9,000gns for his home-bred shearling ram. Llwynbrain Mallet, a March born son of Black Mountain Haymaker and bred from a homebred daughter of Llwynbrain Furbo, lifted the Male and Reserve Supreme Championship ticket in the pre-sale judging. He caught the eye of Yorkshire breeder Richard Findlay to join his Westerdale flock.

| Buckles Master Beltex |
Kevin and Rachel Buckle secured the next leading price of the day at 5,200gns for their shearling ram Buckles Master Beltex. Sired by the imported ram, Bullshot, and out of a homebred mother Buckles Jewel who goes back to Airyolland Hercules. Master Beltex was successfully knocked down to regular buyer GE Slater of Whiteley Hey Farm, Cheshire.
Lanarkshire breeders A & M Dunlop of the Broughton flock saw a top price of 5,000gns achieved for their pen of shearlings. Taking the price tag was Broughton McIvor, a March born Viagrow grandson. His mother, Corstane Dorothy, was Champion at the Royal Highland Show in 2004. McIvor was sold to a three way partnership of Kevin and Rachel Buckle of the Buckles flock based at Kirkby Stephen , J & S Wilkinson of the Langlands flock at Richmond and P & A Moss of the Holmebeck flock at Barnard Castle.
First time exhibitor to this event, David Thornley of Derbyshire received a top price of 4,900gns for his shearling rams. Dooley Malik, a February born twin of the imported ram Clovis V/h Groentenhof and out of a Dun-Mor bred mother, was male champion at the Three Counties show 2009 also male and reserve overall champion at the Royal Show 2009. He was sold to Andrew and Becky Bishop of Gloucester to join their Bishops flock.
The Broughton pen of A & M Dunlop also produced the next leading price tag of 4,800gns. It was Broughton McCosh a full ET brother to the 5,000gn ram sold earlier. Sired by Airyolland Kingsize and out of the 2004 Royal Highland Show champion ewe. McCosh was purchased in partnership by John and Heather Barclay of the Beachy flock, Ayrshire and David and Jean Cruikshank of the Drumrash flock, Castle Douglas.
Leading the lamb ram classes at 4,000gns was an entry from the last pen into the sale ring shown by Lanarkshire breeder Richard Wood of the Kindledores flock. His February born Viagrow bred lamb, Kingledores Naylor, out of a Artnagullion bred mother, had earlier in the season won 3rd prize at the Royal Highland Show and reserve Champion at Biggar Show. He was successfully bought by Lancashire breeders Procters Farm Ltd for their Procters flock.
In the female section, it was the female and supreme champion shown by Andrew Bishop of Gloucester which took the top price of 2,900gns. Bishops Mountain, a March born shearling gimmer sired by Luggsmill Jethro and out of a Bishopton Hamish bred mother. She is the Bishops flock 2009 show gimmer and was sold to an undisclosed buyer.
Following at 2,200gns was a big powerful gimmer consigned by John and Heather Barclay of Maybole, Ayrshire. Beachy Madonna, a daughter of the noted show ram Clary Kaiser, she was knocked down to joint purchasers Ameer Asalm of Westhill, Aberdeen and Doreen Mair of Turriff.
Reaching up to the 2,000gn mark was an eye catching gimmer from the Headlind pen of Allan Jackson, Lanarkshire. Headlind Maria, bred from the imported sire Phenomenal V/H Groentenhof and out of a Southholm mother, she was purchased by Jock Allan of Biggar, Lanarkshire.
Averages – 10 aged rams £813.75, 448 shearling rams £817.80, 73 lamb rams £798.58, 230 shearling gimmers £534.77.
