ANNUAL RARE, MINORITY & TRADITIONAL
BREED SHOW AND SALE
SATURDAY 13th SEPTEMBER 2008
REPORT
The extraordinary and detrimental timing of the changes to the Bluetongue
zoning in the North of England obviously affected this important
Annual event. With many Scottish vendors absent and virtually all
Scottish buyers unable or unwilling to purchase, the trade although
selective was not a bad as expected.
The best quality sheep in all
the breed sections were keenly bid for, many making between £100
and £200 with the very
best top animals over £200.
This was so particularly for the
Ryelands, Kerry Hills, and Shetlands (which included a major reduction
sale for Lenice Bell’s noted Todhill flock, four of which made
over £100 to a top of £280 – the highest price
of any breed on the day)
