The on-farm Texel sale of September Sapphires at Hull House, Skipton, attracted an enormous attendance of buyers from as far as away as Aberdeen in the north down to Anglesey in Wales and across to interested parties in both North and Southern Ireland.
A tremendous show of sheep were presented by both flocks involved, namely Hullhouse from John and Linda Mellin and Beautry from Stuart and Gail Currie.
The top price of the sale was 5,000gns for a gimmer shown from the Hullhouse flock. This very stylish female, a daughter of Springwell Jaguar and bred from a daughter of Brague Inquirer attracted the bid from Procters Farm Ltd of Slaidburn, Clitheroe.
Following at 2,000gns were three lots. First was another gimmer from Hullhouse, a daughter sired by Castleknowe Matchmaker and out of a CA Commandeur Kommandeur daughter. She was sold to J Owen of Holyhead, Anglesey.
The second lot to secure 2,000gns and the top price of the Beautry flock was a February born gimmer sired by Mullan Magnificent and out of a Brague Jodami bred mother. She was knocked down to J Burton of Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
The final lot to reach 2,000gns and the leading ram price tag was Hullhouse Nosh a March born shearling. A son of Castleknowe Matchmaker and going back to Hullhouse Heathcliffe on his mothers pedigree, he sold to Southern Ireland for J Greene of Co. Donegal. Averages |
