A catalogue entry of 151 rams and females was presented for a pedigree sheep fair held at Newark Livestock Centre. Trade was selective and buyers bid for mostly better quality type of stock. The leading price of the sale was 620gns for a Texel lamb ram shown by Henry Ashley of the Lincs flock based near Boston. Lincs Olympic Gold, a son of Meinspride Lord and out of a Sportsmans bred mother, caught the eye of many buyers present. He was sold to GC Baker of Grantham, Lincs. A Texel shearling ram consigned by Derbyshire breeders J & J Spillane sold for the next leading price tag of 400gns. This home-bred February born shearling sold to FH White of Shottle, Belper. Topping the Suffolk section was a lamb ram shown by G & E Beddie of Swaffham, Norfolk. A son of Breckland Best Mate and out of a Glenisla bred mother, this lamb has been successful in the show circuit already this season picking up Male Champion and Interbreed Pairs Champion at Norfolk Show. Also reaching the 400gn mark was a Beltex two shear ram shown by David Thornley of Swadlincote, Derbyshire. Beachy Kodak, a February 2006 born son of Brickrow Highfive and out of a Carsloe mother, was knocked down to KM Robinson of Yaddlethorpe, Scunthorpe.
