The annual South Devon pedigree sale at Carlisle saw a good entry, particularly of yearling heifers from Mr & Mrs J Hetherington’s The Heigh herd, which has seen repeated success at this venue over the past few years. Judge, Society President Peter Pratt, selected his champion from the bull class – Mr J McCracken’s AI Beechwood Ashley 2, who had come over from Northern Ireland. Reserve champion was Mr & Mrs Hetherington’s yearling heifer, The Heigh Dawn, who went on to top the female trade at 1,200gns to R & R E Everitt & Son, Bishop Auckland, Co Durham. A respectable group of in-calf and calved cows, and bulling heifers, from Mr & Mrs B Webster from Ormskirk were good buys for a number of buyers from the north of England and from Scotland.
