3,000GNS SLOUGHPOOL BABS LEADS SOUTH WEST LIMOUSIN CLUB SUMMER SENATIONAL SHOW AND SALE

A very solid trade was seen at the Summer Sensational Show & Sale held at Bristol on Tuesday 15th July 2008 on behalf of the South West Limousin Club. Top price went by way of Sloughpool Babs from the Reduction Sale on behalf of Messrs MM Gollop & Sons, Slough Farm, Haibeton Road, Willand, Cullompton, Devon.

Sloughpool Babs is a March 2006 born heifer sired by Lumbylaw Penandpaper and out of a very good Strathallan Diplomat daughter, Sloughpool Tuscany. Carrying a Beef Value of LM+22 she sold for 3,000gns to Mr D Wright, Dulands Farm, Parwich, Ashbourne, Derbyshire who runs the Dewlands Herd of pedigree Limousins.

Next best was the Reserve Female Champion, Rill Cheekygirl, consigned by Martyn Baker, Rill House, Middle Rill Farm, Shillingford, Tiverton, Devon who has won the Best Small Herd Competition in the South West three years in a row. With Broadmeadows Cannon, Ronick Hawk & Ronick Iceman in her back pedigree, Rill Cheekygirl is sired by Rill Vagabond and out of Rill Sugarplum. This May 2007 born heifer, carrying a Beef Value of LM+23, sold at the 2,800gns mark to PR & JK Williams, Marchgwyn Uchaf, Efailwen, Pembroke for their Marchgwyn pedigree herd.

Topping the bull trade was the 2,600gns Killerton Cavalier from Columbjohn Farm Ltd, Rewe, Exeter. A shapely Ionesco son and out the homebred dam, Killerton Vanette, this January 2007 born bull sold with a Beef Value of LM+32, ranking him squarely within the top 10% of breed, to Kembury Bros, Abbey Farm, Camerton, Nr Bath.
