NEWARK SALE OF PEDIGREE CHAROLAIS CATTLE Saturday 5th January 2008

The dispersal of the Cowick pedigree Charolais herd was conducted at Newark Livestock Market Ltd on behalf of Mr Bob Lunness based at East Cowick, Goole, on Saturday 5th January 2008.

The cattle were presented in excellent bloom and attracted a strong interest from new and established pedigree breeders.

Attracting the top bid of this small consignment was 3100gns for Cowick Tenga a November 2002 born second calver. A daughter of Brinkton Maestro going back to the noted Lamberhurst line on her mothers breeding, Tenga sold with a heifer calf at foot Cowick Cherub a daughter of the 15,000gn Buradon Talisman sire. This stylish outfit now joins the Sportsman herd of Messrs Boden & Davies of Stockport, Cheshire.

Following at 1700gns was another second calver Cowick Valantine. A daughter of Blinets Jasmin and bred from a Maerdy Empereur sired mother she also sold with her calf at foot, Cowick Christian born in October and sired by Ballindalloch UFO. Again this attractive outfit was purchased by Boden & Davies Ltd to join their Sportsman herd based in Cheshire.

The first package to enter the sale ring for the Cowick herd was brood cow Maerd Italy who sold with her twin calves at foot. A daughter of Meardy Empereur and bred from a Brampton Tenpin sired dam she also joins the Sportman herd for Messrs Boden & Davies.

Other entries forward for sale included a consignment of bulls from various breeders and topping this section at 2000gns was a homebred bull shown by Mr Roger Everall of Worcester with Shraden Bobbydazzler. An April 2006 born son of Inverlochy Topsire and going back to the Balthayock breeding on his mothers pedigree he was knocked down to Mr S Franks of Bradford, Sheffield.
