CARRIAGE AND DRIVING SALE
SATURDAY 29th MARCH 2008
The second sale of the equine calander took place at Borderway
on Saturday 29th March 2008 with the Carriage and Driving Sale
which featured carriages, horse boxes, driving horses, complete
turnouts, driving harnesses and other associated tack.
Topping the sale was a driving horse shown by Raye
Bower of Aspatria, Carlisle. This attractive dappled grey pure
bred Percheron gelding, born August 2004 and is a son of Park Valiant,
was greatly admired and sold for 2,350gns.
Also in the horse section
and close behind at 2,000gns was a black and white cob shown by
Mr J Mowbray of Kirkandrews on Eden, Carlisle. Known as Tiny, this
2005 born gelding measuring up to 15.2hh was newly broken and ready
to drive.
The Carriage section was lead at £1,400 for a Hartland
pony sport gig shown by Y Anderson of Goose Green, Lothian. This
four wheeled blue finished carriage was presented in excellent
condition.
A set of cob size black/brown breast collar harnesses
took the top price in the harness section and sold for £330.
Selling at £305 was a set of carriage lamps and they were
presented in their original box.
