One of the big attractions in his sale has to be the fact that 75 heifers in milk go under the hammer. What makes this group even more exciting is the fact that some are sired by World No.1 Picston Shottle. A lot of these young animals have wonderful futures; they display all that’s good about Picston Shottle making it easy to see why he is a global leader in the dairy industry.

The other big attraction of this sale has to be the 40 summer calving cows, perfect for all those people looking to make the most of a rising autumn milk price.

Currently the rolling herd average is 8828kgs 4.18%BF 3.33%P. This is achieved on a Total Mixed Ration of silage, whole crop wheat with supplementary feeding carried out in the parlour. This production is even more impressive when you consider that almost half the herd is in their first lactation.

There are 75 heifers in milk 38 cows in their second and 31 milking in their third. Most of these profitable young animals sell in calf to leading AI sires. Picston Shottle, Emerald Acres SA T Baxter, Far O LA Debbie Jo Design, Far O LA Debbi Jo Decker, Hidden View Best, Carrousel Distrigene Red and Calbrett Champion have been used heavily throughout.

The conformation is very respectable across the herd. There has always been a balanced approach in the sire selection with similar emphasise put towards both type and production.

Some of the sires of the milkers are Wa Del Convincer, Summershade Inquirer, Comestar Outside, Comestar Leader, Southland Marker and Roylane Jordan. The use of top AI sires has resulted in over 30 Very Good classified young animals in the herd.
