Fantastic day for Fairburn
Fairburn Estate, one of Scotland
finest Estates situated in the highlands sold their
herd of Pedigree Holsteins at Borderway on the 7th May
2008.
 |
The sale arena was packed with eager buyers from across the UK
resulting in cattle going to as far a field as Ireland. The herd was
a credit to the owners and manager; they were high quality Holsteins
with a tremendous combination of width and dairyness. Superb udders were
the norm, and this was evident in the top price of the sale.
Selling for 2,950gns was a beautiful heifer sired by Joylan Roxell and
from a Very Good 87 dam; she had been calved since February and was currently
giving 29kgs. She now joins the herd of WR Stewart, Willoxton Farm, Mauchline,
Ayrshire.
N&SJ Sanderson, Burtholme Farm, Lanercost, Brampton purchased an
Aquila Patron Lucente daughter for 2,100gns. This was another awesome
heifer with an almost perfect udder, feet and legs; she sold in calf
to Calypso due at the end of June.
Also selling for 2,100gns was Fairburn Trusty a Roylane Jordan daughter,
she was classified Good Plus 83 from a Haldrey Leadership dam. This wide
uddered heifer was purchased by CD&C Somerville, Braehill Farm, Carrutherstown,
Dumfries.
Heading back to the Highlands was Fairburn Kay purchased by P Stephen,
Conglass, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire for 2,000gns. She was sired by Stardale
Beattie, recently calved on the 1st March and giving almost 30kgs. Her
dam was a Chairman Valiant daughter with over 11,000kgs in both her third
and forth lactations and was classified Very Good 86.
Two exceptional animals in the youngsock section were both purchased
by Messrs Fiddler, Barrowling, Southwaite, Carlisle, Cumbria for 2,000gns.
The first was sired by Joylan Roxell from an Excellent Grand dam and
the second was sired by Brilea Canyon from a tremendous Jordan dam that
had sold earlier to the Newbie Mains herd in Annan.
The rest of the young stock were fantastic and sold to a flying trade
with young calves topping at 1,750gns for a daughter of Comestar Stormatic.
She was from the Berry family from an Excellent dam with eleven lactations
many of them being over 11,000kgs, and now joins the herd of D&N
Mackenzie, Rootfield Farm, Kinkell, Muir of Ord.
