SALE OF BREEDING & STORE CATTLE
At Manor Farm, Warter, York

On Thursday 1st May 2008, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted the first portion to displenish the Warter Priory Herd of breeding cattle. A huge crowd of prospective purchasers drawn from throughout England were present. The cattle were presented in good condition and as a result a marvelous trade ensued.

Cows and calves topped at 1320, Bulling heifers to £1050, Steers to £745 and Pedigree Charolais bulls to £2000.

Leading prices:

Bulls – Charolais, £2000, £1900, £1450, £1200, £1100 (x2). Saler, £1040.

Cows and calves – Aberdeen Angus, £1320, £1120, £1100 (x3). Charolais, £1260, £1250, £1220 (x2), £1200 (x2). Saler, £1200, £1120, £1080 (x3), £1050.

Feeding cows – Saler, £950, £840. Aberdeen Angus, £870, £710. South Devon, £790. Limousin, £780, £750.

Bulling Heifers – Charolais, £1050, £840, £820. Aberdeen Angus, £760, £750 (x2), £720 (x2). Limousin, £720. South Devon, £720 (x4), £700 (x2). Saler, £690, £640, £620 (x4).
