LOCKERBIE STORE CATTLE

At Lockerbie on Tuesday 30th October, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 924 hill bred suckled calves at their annual sale.

Trade was way beyond spectator expectations, with many regular consignments slightly up on the year. At the pre sale show the Judge Mr D Dickson, Greenburn, Cannonbie awarded the Championship to M/s G & W Halliday, Crawthat with a Black Limouisn bullock which sold at £790 or 159.9ppk.

The Reserve was from the same home with a Limouisn heifer which sold at £740 or 151.5ppk. A measure of the quality of the Crawthat cattle was that he swept the board winning all rosettes available. Spring born calves sold to 164.7pppk for 13 Charolais bullocks from Gillesbie Farms, with Charolais heifers also from Gillenbie selling to 148.4ppk.
