Kirkby Stephen Stephen Annual New Fair Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual New Fair Cattle Sale at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Monday 14th May, where there was an entry of 472 head comprising 54 Geld Cows, 282 Store Cattle and 136 head of Beef Breeding Cattle.

A prize show was held for Beef Breeding Cattle, kindly sponsored by Taylor & Braithwaite, Sandford and judged by Mr M Mawson, Bassenthwaite.

Breeding cattle were sold to a large ringside of customers with quality outfits in great demand.

Another large turnout of geld cows saw a higher percentage of beef breeds to average 75.06 p overall.

Store Cattle sold to a complete clearance and although not up to last fortnight’s extreme rates, saw decent summering types sell at highly acceptable rates.
