store cattle / KIRKBY STEPHEN SALE REPORT

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their February Prize Show & Sale of Store Cattle at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Monday 19th February 2007 where there was an entry of 514 head including 35 geld cows.

The prize show was generously sponsored by Dugdale Nutrition, Clitheroe and R D Anderson, Leyburn with judging expertly undertaken by Mr G Askwith, Crook, Co Durham.

A strong line up of bullocks produced the overall champion from regular vendor Mr T G Taylor, Gilts Farm, Crosby Ravensworth, this Belgian Blue cross Limousin bullock was purchased by Mr D Barker.

A fantastic trade for all classes was witnessed with cattle easily the dearest trade of the season, bullocks averaging £598.14 (+£81.81) and heifers £534.50 (+£78.82). A smaller show of cows sold well with an additional buyer at the ringside to average 75.52p/kg (+ 6.28 p/kg)
