Friday 7th December 2007 A top call of 2050 gns came for the days Champion of Beltex In Lamb females at Carlisle on Friday 7th December 2007. Consignor of the Champion, was James McGarva of Horseclose Farm, Cummertrees, Annan. This shearling gimmer, Horseclose Karaoke, which stood 5th at the Highland show in a very strong class, was sired by the noted stock ram Cookstown Hamish. She was an embryo daughter of the record priced Beltex female which the McGarva’s purchased from Gavin Shanks back in 2002. She sold inlamb to the first prize ram lamb at this years Highland Show, to Kevin Armistead, 25 Eskdale Drive, Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria.
The days Reserve Champion from Messrs Connor and Dalrymple , Fairspark, West Lothian secured the next top price of 780gns. Dun-Mor Katrina, sired by an imported ram and out of a homebred ewe, was inlamb to Brookfield Horatio. She accompanied the Champion back to Kevin Armistead’s Kelstead flock at Dalton-in-Furness. Also on this day, the entire adult portion from the Garrion flock, on behalf of Messrs Shanks and Thom, came under the hammer. It was a 2-shear ewe, which made the leading call for this renowned flock. Garrion Jiffy, sired by an imported ram, and out of Garrion Elle, sold for 1000gns to J E Collinge, Whitehill Cottage, Middlebie, Lockerbie.
