Flying Trade For Limousins At Bristol

The South West Limousin Summer Sensational Show & Sale at Bristol Sale Centre on Tuesday 17th July 2007 was certainly “sensational”. There was a tremendous turnout of quality cattle drawing buyers from far and wide.

Mary Reynolds from Hampshire was the judge and was very impressed with the standard of cattle in front of her. Out of eight classes she drew her Champions.

Male Champion was “Quaish Aviator” from Nick & Lisa Hill, Cheddar, Somerset a November 05 born bull sired by “Sarkley Upmarket”, Reserve Male Champion went To Patrick Greed from Exeter, Devon with “Avilton Atom” a December 05 bull bred by Paul Chartris from Tiverton, Devon. Female Champion went again to Nick & Lisa Hill with “Quaish Bronte” a May 06 heifer again sired by “Sarkley Upmarket” with the reserve slot going to Chris Richens with “Broadoak Bryony” a January 06 born heifer.

The Calf Section was won by JJ Comer from Swindon Wiltshire with “Moonleaze Banjo” an August 06 born Heifer out of “Bapton Nadine” reserve champion calf went to M A Reed From Cullompton Devon with his Commercial Steer sired by The Limousin Bull “Loosbeare Vieira”.

Six Bulls sold for an average of £2091.25 with the Top Price going to Patrick Greed for “Avilton Atom” the reserve male champion sold to R W Matthews South Molton 2000gns was paid by S M Spears & M A Quiney, From Newton Abbott for the male champion “Quaish Aviator”from Nick & Lisa Hill. The buyers seeming to want the more mature bulls that could go straight to work.

There was a very strong demand for quality females on offer, topping the haltered Female section at 6,600gns was M J Brunton with the show heifer “Sheelin Anne” a December 05 born heifer by “Grahams Unbeatable” out of his famous cow “Sheelin Jan” also headed down to Newton Abbott to join the herd Of Carolyn Runnalls P R & J K Williams from Pembrokeshire secured the Female Champion “Quiash Bronte” at 2350gns. “Columbpark Autumn” from Vicky Maynard & Matt Smith sold for 2100gns this very smart September 05 born heifer sired by “Rombalds Utah” heads to Oxford to new breeder D H Plested.

Top Price Cow at 5,400gns was the very successful show cow from Nick & Lisa Hill “Sloughpool Tasmine” bred by M Gollop from Cullompton Devon. “Tasmine” joins the herd of Cairns & Burton from Notts. At 2,800 gns was “Nealford Tiamaria” from J H Neale, Launceston Cornwall a 5-year-old cow with a very shapely calf at foot by “Raysonhall Utah”. She heads way up to North to Andrew Ewing from Dumfriesshire.

There was a strong demand for the Heifers served and /or suckling with the top price of 2,700gns being paid by H Curtis of Bristol for” Rill Unigold” an “Ocean” sired heifer with a very strong bull calf at foot by “Ronick Hawk” this was from the reduction consignment of Martyn Baker from Tiverton, Devon, he also sold “Rill Upsadaisy” a “Ronick Hawk” Sired heifer with a January 07 heifer calf at foot by “Rill Vagabond” for 2,300gns to Milton Schofield Cheshire.

The Limousin Sired Shows calves where a good trade with 6 sold to an Average of £716.66

Bill & Pam White had a good trade with the reduction of the Exmoor Herd. Top Price was 3,200gns for “Exmoor Vibrato” an October 04 “Sympa” heifer pd’d in calf to “Killerton Travis” with an EBV of LM+32, she joins the Brickhill herd of D Collins Northants.2, 600gns and 2,550gns was paid by W I M Price Camarthenshire for “Exmoor Tremilo” sired by “Exmoor Rumpus” with a heifer calf at foot by “Goldies Terence” and “Exmoor Ulrita” again sired by “Exmoor Rumpus”, (Rumpus goes back to “Greensons Gigolo”) “Ulrita” was sold with a “Goldies Terence” heifer calf at foot and in calf to “Sympa”.
