On Friday 9th November 2007, Harrison & Hetherington Limited held the annual autumn show and sale of pedigree and non pedigree Galloway cattle. The pre-sale show was most ably judged by Mrs. M. Gordon, Barfil of Crocketford and Mr. I. Dickinson of Brockstones, Kentmere. The quality of cattle put before the judges was tremendous and all classes were very keenly contested. The Male Championship was awarded to Immense of Haining House exhibited by Planmajor Ltd, Longrigg Farm, Eskdale Green. The Female Championship was exceedingly close only being resolved by the use of a thirdsman to adjudicate the Champion consigned. They awarded to Moonlight of Ashfield, by G. Kyle, Spoutbank an in calf heifer which realised £945 to A. Nixon, 2, Irthing View, Walton. Trade throughout was wonderful topping at 2,000gns for a very stylish bull Demesne Boxer consigned by C.G. Noble, Demesne, Bewcastle. Pedigree heifers topped at 1,500gns for a terrific heifer and calf consigned by G. Kyle, Spoutbank with Messrs. Bell, Bloch, signing the cheque. Non pedigree in calf or in milk heifers averaged £966.66 whilst pedigree bulling heifers averaged £777.48. |
