A small entry of Charolais cattle was forward at the early spring show and sale on Friday 9th March on behalf of the Charolais Cattle Society.
The days trading was topped at 3,000gns for a 16 month old bull shown by Hertfordshire breeders Caylers Charolais based near Royston. Caylers Angus, a son of Kelton Tribune and out of a Lamberhurst sired mother, was sold to Dumfriesshire breeders G Barbour & Co of Auchengibbert. Following at 2,600gns was a senior bull consigned by Northumberland breeders JHC Campbell & Son of Alnwick. Thrunton Albino, a May 2005 born son of the noted Burradon Talisman and out of a daughter of Blanerne Fearless. He was purchased by T Marshall of Fawdon, Newcastle. Also reaching over the 2,000gn mark was the days supreme champion shown by Ian and Dorothy Goldie of Annan, Dumfriesshire. Solwayfirth Ace, also May born and sired by Maerdy Restful and out of a Moyness bred mother, he sold for 2,100gns to Messrs Jackson of Sowerby Row, Carlisle. Average – 7 bulls £2,040.00
