The official Shetland Pony Stud-Book Society held their autumn show and sale on Saturday 13th October 2007 at Carlisle.
Topping the sale at 2,900gns was a Piebald miniature filly shown by Miss Tracy Leeming of Dalton in Furness, Cumbria. Urswick Little Cracker certainly lived up to her name as her breeding is first class and she attracted keen competition amongst the bidders and was finally sold to RJ Crayston of Seascale, Cumbria.
The next leading price was 2,100gns for a Skewbald stallion consigned by Norman Blackburn. Lowermailand Robin is a proven breeder as he has progeny already throughout the UK. He was successfully sold to H Scambler of Preston, Lancs.
Also selling for four figures at 1,500gns was a filly foal shown by Devon breeder JAT Hodge. Halstock Pi’s Tatiana a May born foal is a grand daughter to the noted New Park Chieftain was knocked down to overseas buyer S Schumacher of Germany.
The day started with the pre-sale judging which was carried out by Sue Bowling of Devon and she awarded the overall championship rosette to a skewbald mare shown by local breeder Norman Blackburn of Newton Reigny, Penrith. North Wells Mini Rose, a 32 ½ inch mare, is bred from the noted Rose bloodlines and unfortunately left the ring unsold.
The junior championship was won by John Lawrie of Dalkeith, Mid Lothian for his chestnut miniature colt. Milday Smart Alex a May born pony is bred from many prize winning bloodlines and attracted a bid of 340gns and was sold to Messrs McIntosh of Galston, Ayrshire.
