CARRIAGE AND DRIVING SALE
Saturday 31st March 2007
The first sale of horse drawn carriages and driving items was held
and attracted an enormous crowd of enthusiasts mainly from Northern
England and Scotland.
Topping the sale at £20,000 was a blue Ford 2 horse trailer
consigned by Norman Blackburn of Newton Reigney, Penrith.
Selling at £4,700 was an Ifor Williams 4 pony trailer shown
by Mrs C Farrell of Kirkby Thore, Penrith.
In the carriage section, a 2 wheeled ex Miss Brindley trap shown
in show condition was put forward by Mrs M Holliday of Hunsonby,
Penrith and sold for £1,450.
In the harness items four lots sold up to £500, the first
was an English set of black/white metal cob size working harness,
and was soon followed by a set of English black/white metal collar
cob size harness. Mid way through the sale came the next lot at £500
which was a set of English box keepers brass/patent cob show harness,
and towards the end of the section was a cob size set of Huskissons
show harness.
