The Borderway Black & White Sale celebrated its 21st Anniversary in style with one of the greatest consignments of animals ever offered on show. The sale featured animals for every market, with future stars of the show ring selling along with fancy modern calves that should develop into tomorrow's bull mothers.
Top price was 14500gns for Riverdane Outside Beauty. She is a daughter of Riverdane Stormatic Beauty EX90, All Britain Senior 2yr old 2006 and one of the greatest young cows in the world today. The forth dam in the pedigree was Rainyridge Tony Beauty EX a Supreme Champion at World Dairy Expo in 1999 as a 14yr old cow. Riverdane Outside Beauty was purchased by R&E Butterfield from Ingleview Holsteins.
Selling for 10,200gns was Denmire Shottle Marie, a beautiful calf from the famous Marie family. Shottle Marie goes back to Tab Marie EX94 a cow with over 100 tonnes lifetime. This calf now joins the breeding program of A Bunting & Son, Midtown Farm, Dumfries.
In recent times the Holstein breed has been taken by storm by Lavender Redrose EX95, the first Red & White Holstein to be Supreme at Madison. Selling for 7000gns was an awesome Red & White from her family. Absolute J Bob Speckle Red from Graham Kirby. Roston Partners, Common Farm, Winsford now own this big time red. Also selling for 7000gns was a daughter of Bolton from Windy-Knoll-View Promis EX95 consigned by Overside Holsteins. She was purchased by Aintree Holsteins, Shordly Hall, Flintshire and Knowlesmere Holsteins, Ivy House Farm, Shrewsbury.
Top Price Jersey was congined by Skyhigh Jerseys owned by Mark Shadwick. This was for a daughter of Rapid-ay Resurrection from Huronia Centurian Veronica EX95 full sister. Veronica has been a three times World Dairy Expo champion. This fantastic calf is now owned by Willy & Jo Templeton, Syke Farm, Ayrshire. Robert Hunter from Clydevalley Jersey sold a very nice 2yr old in milk, sired by Lester Sambo from the Leaf family. This young animal joins Miss Emma Murray’s herd from Shipley Bank Farm, Wolverhampton for 2,300gns. Glyn Lucas who managed the sale said, “ the 21st Sale had been a big success and like to thank the breeders who let the very best animals leave their farms. Also thanks to everyone who attend the sale and purchased these great animals. Two lots that attracted major interest was the two first choice heifer calves selling. From the Royal Champion and from Savage Leigh Zenith Liz. The first, to be offered was the 1st choice heifer from Almond Stormatic Avis EX90 this year Royal Champion. This lot brought 6,000gns going to Weeton Holsteins. First time consignors Willy Glen and Louise Holt of Distinctive Holsteins sold a 1st choice by Shottle from Savage Leigh Zenith Liz VG89. This exciting option sold for 7,000gns to David Yates, Meiklefirth Holsteins, Castle Douglas. Leading Prices:
