What a fantastic sale! That’s the phrase that echoed throughout Borderway after The Cheviotview sale on Friday 4th May 2007.

The herd was dispersed throughout the UK and Ireland, with an enormous interest in the Red & Whites. The Cheviotview Herd was a credit to its owner, Andrew Hodge, who had developed a truly awesome herd of cows since re-stocking, and there is no doubt that his influence in the Holstein and Red & White breed will be missed.

Cheviotview Talent August VG87 which had won 1st junior 2yr old at the National Holstein Show just a few weeks previous, was top price, selling for 14,000gns to Sheikha Alkhalifa for “Sahara Holsteins”. This tremendous individual descends from The All-American DRA August family, and her dam was the awesome Kepculloch Rubens August Red EX91.

Also joining “Sahara Holsteins” is the 3rd place Intermediate 2yr old from The National Holstein Show 2006, Bricknell Stormatic Ethel VG89. Ethel’s first 7 dams are all excellent, many with All Britain Championships to their credit. “Sahara Holsteins” purchased another stylish Talent with a big future for 8,800gns. Cheviotview Talent Pamela goes back to the famous Pamela’s at “Crichel”, and if successful could complete a 9th generation of EX or VG dams.

One of the big attractions in the Red & White department was Cheviotview Monks Cloth Ori 2 VG88. This Royal Highland Champion displayed awesome style and capacity and had the ability to win many more big titles. She now joins the herd of Mr JA Paterson, Ashfield, Ballycochran, Banger, Co Down for 4,000gns. “Ballycochran” also purchased a fancy young Mr Samuelo calf from his Ballcochran Leduc Marqi EX90 that sold for 2,100gns.

Mr G Lawrie, Sandyford, Monkton, Prestwick, Ayrshire purchased Cheviotview Beckham Kitty Red VG85. Kitty is sired by Bailleys CD Beckham Red, and possesses the kind of style that will win the big league shows in the future, she sold for 3,900gns.

Selling for 3,800gns was Cheviotview Terrason Mania VG86 (2yr) to Mesr A Bunting & Son, Midtown Farm, New Abbey, Dumfries. Her dam was Cleevale Charles Mania EX93-4E, a tremendous framed cow with fantastic breeding potential. She stood 6th at the National Holstein Show 2007 in the mature cow class.
