The Fremington Herd of Pedigree Holstein cattle owned by Geoff Wilcox of Fremington, Brougham, Penrith dispersed their entire herd in front of a large crowd at Borderway Mart on Wednesday 28th March 2007.

Geoff had restocked five years ago after losing his herd during the foot and mouth outbreak. Most of the animals in restocking came from Messrs Lawson’s Almondene Herd, which formed a tremendous foundation to breed from.

Top price of the day was paid for Fremington Toul Heather a recently fresh heifer giving 35kgs a day. This heifer joins the herd of GW Blair & Sons of Townhead Farm, Westhall, Brampton.

Selling for 1350gns was a daughter of Moet Melody from the Laura family, this heifer sold fresh, calving in February to an undisclosed buyer.

Messrs N Nicholson & Son of Newhouse Farm, Dumfries purchased Fremington Eastland Annie an Eastland Cash daughter, from the well bred Annie family for 1280gns.

A Summershade Igniter daughter was next in the leading prices selling for 1250gns. This milking 2 yr old calved on the 20th of January giving 28kgs and was purchased by C Johnstone of Abbey Farm, Penrith.
