Lazonby Breeding & Store Sheep

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held a special sale of breeding and store sheep at Lazonby mart on Wednesday 31st Oc tober 2007, where there was an entry of 6,087 head comprising, 4,487 Mule gimmer lambs, 722 Store lambs, 810 Swaledale ewes and gimmer lambs and 68 rams.

The fourth weekly sale of Mule lambs drew another good company of buyers from the Southern and Eastern counties to produce a fast selling trade for mainly running lambs, peaking at £46 from Messrs G R Wharton & Sons, Keisley Farm to average £34.02 overall.

Store lambs were forward in good numbers with Mule wethers mainly £21 - £25 each, reasonable considering the current prime trade. Swaledale ewes met a keen enquiry and Buefaced Leicester’s peaked at £400 from Messrs Martin, Hesley Well.
