Lazonby Breeding Sheep

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held a sale of 4,302 breeding and store sheep at Lazonby mart on Monday 8th October 2007, comprising 3,007 Mule gimmer shearlings, 1,130 sheep being dispersed on behalf of Lazonby Estate Farms and from Mr S J Brown, Dufton and 225 store lambs.

A decent crowd of buyers descended on Lazonby mart for this special breeding sale but trade was at levels everyone expected given the current circumstances.

Shearlings topped at £90, three times, all from Mr P Elliott, Bank house, to average £61.32 per head. The dispersal from Lazonby Estates saw spirited bidding from many local purchasers. Store lambs in comparison to current prime trade were good to sell.

Mule Gimmer Shearlings: £90 (3) Bank House; £88 Sceugh Farm; £76, £71 (3) Rook Farm; £73 Townfoot; £71 Starrah Farm, Hesket Demain, Dyke Croft; £70 Hill Top Farm.

Texel cross gimmer shearlings: £51 Lazonby Estate Farms.
