LOCKERBIE ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF STORE CATTLE & SUCKLED CALVES

At Lockerbie on Tuesday 17th October 2006, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 1041 store cattle and suckled calves at their annual show and sale.

At the pre show the judge Mr A Watson, Crookholm, Canonbie awarded the Championship to Mr D Brown, Mosshead, with a 10 month Limousin Bullock which sold at £650 to the judge.

The reserve was from M/s J M Wharton & Son, Snade with a red Limousin bullock which sold to £700 again to the judge.

Outwith the show, bullocks sold to £770 for a Limousin from the annual consignment of 160 from M/s G & M Halliday, Crawthat. Top price per kilo of 165ppk went to Gillesbie Farms with 2 pens of Charolais and Mr WD Wright, Hunthills with a pen of Limousin. Heifers sold to £740 for a Limousin from M/s IT & KF Carruthers, Glenzierfoot and to a top of 163ppk for a Limousin from M/s D Brown & Co, Mosshead with Charolais to 160ppk from Gillesbie Farms and Limousin also to 160ppk from M/s G & M Halliday, Crawthat.

The 526 Bullocks averaged 124ppk or £498.25 (+£57.94 on year)
The 515 Heifers averaged 118.4ppk or £424.43 (+£59.32 on year)
