Celebratory Retiral Sale (phase 1) from the
STONEFIELDHILL Flock
also Genuine Draft Sale from the
BROOKHILL Flock

The first part of the celebratory retiral sale for the Stonefieldhill pedigree texel flock for Alex Brown took place on Saturday 19th August 2006 with a price of 5,200gns topping the days sale.

Leading the sale was one of the stock rams on offer, Halbeath Kiwi a two shear group one son of Haltcliffe Jackpot and out of a Halbeath FBI bred daughter. He sold to borders enthusiasts J & E Logan of Pirntaton Farm, Galashiels.

Second entry into the sale ring reached the next leading price tag of 3,000gns. A March born shearling gimmer carrying a genotype of ARR/ARR, and sired by Stonefieldhill Keepsake sold to local Dumfriesshire breeders Messrs Currie & MacMillan of Crocketford.

Back in the stock ram entries saw the next top price of 2,200gns. Stonefieldhill Lancelot, a group one type shearling ram and out of a Brookhill Geronimo bred mother, he has developed into a powerful ram with show success lifting reserve championship at this years Dalkeith Show. He was knocked down to G Allan of Alton Farm, Stirling.

A two shear ram, Mountskip Khan, sold for 1,600gns. Sired by Stonefieldhill Jensen and with his dams breeding line going back to the noted Baltier Winston sire, Khan was purchased by local breeders Alan and Christine Watson of Byresteads Farm, Cockermouth.

Also selling over the 1,000gn mark was Croft Lexus a ARR/ARR shearling ram. At 1,400gns this February born son of Teiglum Iceman was successfully bought by J Watson of Bowsden Moor, Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The second leading price for the females on offer was the first gimmer into the sale ring. At 800gns, this much admired daughter of Collielaw Jacko, was first prize gimmer and champion Texel at this years Haddington Show. She now joins the flock of Martin Watson of Four O’Boot, Carlisle.

Also on offer was the genuine draft sale from the Brookhill flock consigned by Gemma Brown. Topping this section was a March 2001 born daughter of Clougher Gladiator which sold for 520gns. She was purchased by J & E Logan of Pirntaton Farm, Galashiels.

Averages:–
Stonfieldhill flock: 107 shearling gimmers £267.21, 207 ewes £184.89.

Brookhill flock: 24 ewes 140.44. Stock rams: 14 rams £1,157.25.
