At Broughton on Tuesday 3rd October 2006 Harrison & Hetherington held its Annual Sale of Herdwick and Swaledale Rams.

A very good entry of almost 300 tups were forward.

A bumper show of almost 250 Herdwick rams met buoyant demand with many commenting that tups were as dear as they had every seen - no less than 14 made over 1,000 gns and 99% of tups found a home. An overall average of 406gns was achieved.

Top price Herdwick went to Meesrs Harrison, Brotherilkeld for a 2 shear ram. He sold for 2,700 gns and was purchased by Messrs Cooper, Troughton Hall, Broughton in Furness.

Swaledale tups were of mixed quality but most found homes and prices were to the vendors satisfaction. An overall average of 196 gns was achieved.

Swaledale: £520 Turner Hall Farm, £330 Low Kinmont, £300 Hill Top Farm.
