This traditional end of summer Limousin sale fixture saw 26 of the 39 bulls forward sell for a solid average of £1904.13 with nine bulls making 2000gns or more.

Two bulls hit the 2,500gns mark. First of these was the very first lot into the sale ring, the French bred bull Tamarin consigned by Messrs T&L Cheshire, Park House Farm, High Harrington, Workington, Cumbria. Sired by Royal and out of Pervenche, this October 2002 born bull heads to M&D Walton, Gleedlee, Tarset, Hexham, Northumberland.

The second bull at 2,500gns was Greenwell Valubull from JT & J Nattress & Son, Greenwell Farm, Lanchester, Co Durham. Purchaser of this Perigord son - who is out of the dam Greenwell Natalie - was Natfarm Ltd, Manor House Farm, Farleton, Nr Lancaster.

J McConachie & Son, Lethendry, Cromdale, Grantown on Spey, Morayshire were the buyers of the day’s fourth top price at 2,400gns. This went to Griseburn Voyager, exhibited by Mr TA Horn, Lower Griseburn, Great Asby, Appleby, Cumbria - an August 2004 born bull sired by Ballinloan Rascal and out of Grahams Pippa.

Going under the hammer at 2,200gns was another August 2004 born bull, Normande Valour, consigned by Mr & Mrs N Cruickshank, Cowford Farm, Cleghorn, Lanark. An Aldwyck Orpheus son and out of Normande Ingennue and with a Beef Value of LM+28 putting him squarely into the top 10% of breed, he heads to MG & EM Green, Thorniethwaite, Lochmaben, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire.

Topping the unhaltered female trade was Tomschoice Ouch, a 1998 born fifth calver who was sold PD’d in calf to Sarkley Topknot, Great Yorkshire Show Breed Champion 2004 and Reserve Breed Champion 2005. Brought forward by JM & SP Cooper, Hill Top Farm, Dacre, Harrogate, Yorkshire, Tomschoice Ouch, who is sired by French bull Harley and out of Ovington Judith, was snapped up by an undisclosed buyer for 2,000gns.
