CLOUGHHEAD AINSI AT 12,000GNS LEADS BRISK LIMOUSIN HEIFER TRADE A sale of Limousin heifers on behalf of the pedigree herds of Mr. GL Hutton, Setmabanning, Threlkeld, Keswick, Cumbria and Procters Farms Ltd, Procters Farm, Woodhouse Lane, Slaidburn, Nr Clitheroe saw a terrific trade top at 12,000gns for the June 2005 born Cloughhead Ainsi. This maiden heifer was sired by the French bull Saiga and is out of the well bred Cloughhead Sacha. Sacha is sired by Petunia who is also the sire of Cloughhead Umpire, a bull sold by Mr. Hutton for 42,000gns at Carlisle in February 2005. Her grand dam is Cloughhead Jessie whose full sisters have been prolific producers of five figure stock selling at Carlisle. Purchasers of Cloughhead Ainsi was the pedigree herd of Nether Hall Farm Ltd, Mansergh, Kirkby Lonsdale, Carnforth. Three of the day’s top four prices went to join the 50 head breeding female pedigree Netherhall herd.
Bidding throughout the sale was strong resulting at the end of the day in an excellent maiden heifer average of £2021 for the 34 sold across the two herds, with 11 served heifers averaging £2090. Six heifers in all made over 3,000gns with the sale’s total gross being a healthy £93,606 for the 46 lots sold. MT Abberley, Hemley Hall, Llanfihangel, Talyllyn, Brecon, Powys, who runs the Hemleyhall pedigree herd, paid 4,800gns for the second top price from the Cloughhead consignment, Cloughhead Alison. February 2005 born, this maiden heifer is a full sister to Cloughhead Titanic who sold at Carlisle in May 2004 fro 24,000gns. Sired by Heros, she is out of the Cloughhead Jurassic sired Cloughhead Orrissa. Cloughhead Agnes featured an interesting pedigree that contained two Paris Show winning cows in the shape of Eclipse and Myrtille. This April 2005 born maiden heifer was sired by the French bull Ugues and is out of Cloughhead Risky. She was purchased for 3,700gns by Messrs Blake, Halfway Well Farm, Great Salkeld, Penrith and will join their Halfwaywell herd. One of the youngest heifers for sale was Cloughhead Annie who made 3,000gns when selling to the Cawfields herd of TW Oliver, Cawfields, Haltwhistle, Northumberland. By the French bull Saiga, Cloughhead Annie is out of Glorieuse the dam of the prolific stock bull Cloughhead Jurassic. She was sold with a Beef Value of LM+25. Nether Hall Farm Ltd paid the top price of 5000gns from the Procters herd consignment in the shape of the served heifer Procters Vodka. A March 2004 born daughter sired by the Ronick Member son, Greenwell Ronick, Vodka is out of the Dimitri sired Roughley Ladybird. Seven lots later, the same purchasers paid 4,000gns for the maiden heifer Procters Valessa. Sired by the Nenuphar son, Sidney, this heifer is out of the Neutron daughter Procters Tessa. Born in October 2004, Procters Valessa was sold with a high Beef Value of LM+35. The very first animal in the ring, Procters Usabelle made 2,500gns when selling to DS Orr & Sons, Randerston, Kingsbarns, St. Andrews, Fife. This served heifer was sired by the Jockey son Neutron and is out of the Haltcliffe Nijinsky sired Homebyres Rosehip. Sold with a Beef Value of LM+28, this December 2003 born heifer was sold in-calf to the noted sire, Sympa. She joins the Orr’s Randerston pedigree herd. CLOUGHHEAD HERD PROCTERS HERD |
