White Rose Group heifers sell to 3,600gns

Borderway Mart was the venue for the White Rose Group Limousin Youngstock Sale from the Scorboro, Pennys and Rachels Herd with a guest consignment from the Middledale Herd held on Saturday 25th March 2006.

The White Rose Limousin Group is made up of three East Yorkshire-based herds whose aim is to use performance recording and technical progress to improve members’ herds. Members of the group have been continuously weight recording for almost 20 years as well as using other technical information and rigorous selection processes.

Pennys Vamp - Lot 27

The day’s top price of 3,600gns came from the Pennys Herd on behalf of Messrs P&P Walker, Wilfholme Farm, Watton, Driffield, E Yorks. The November 2004 born maiden heifer in question was Pennys Vamp, a Mas du Clo daughter and out of Pennys Rebecca, which was snapped up by A Roberts on behalf of a client for 3,600gns. In the Pennys’ consignment 10 maiden & yearling heifers averaged £1,386.

Going under the hammer for 3,000gns to AJ Ewing, Drumbretton, Annan, Dumfriesshire was the served heifer Middledale Valerie on behalf of Mr PR Byas, Middledale Farm, Kilham, Driffield. Sired by Rombalds Rapier and out of Middledale Laura she was sold in calf to Millstone Urbi. Going to the same purchaser at the 2,600gns mark was the six year old pedigree Limousin cow Middledale Rosabel, a daughter of French bull Heroique and out of the homebred dam Middledale Margo. Sold with bull calf Middledale Acentury at foot, she too was sold in calf to Rombalds Rapier.

Leading the Scorboro Herd offering brought forward by Messrs JCG Bloom & Son, Decoy Farm, Scorborough, Driffield was the 2,000gns Scorboro Aspen, sporting a Beef Value of LM+37. By Loganburn Talisman and out of homebred dam Scorboro Japonica, this rising one year old heads over the Irish Sea to C Adams, 57 Ballymiscaw Road, Holywood, Co.Down, N.Ireland. The Scorboro Herd averaged £1417 for four maiden & yearling heifers.

Topping the Rachels Herd contingent on behalf of Messrs D & MLP Woolhouse, Staveley Wold, North Dalton, Driffield was the November 2004 born maiden heifer Rachels Valery, by Pennys Nimrod and out of Rachels Nicola who sold for 1,600gns to TR & EA Milburn, Wall End Farm, Greenhead, Carlisle, Cumbria.
