On Friday 3rd November 2006, Harrison & Hetherington Limited held the annual Autumn show and sale of Galloway breeding cattle. The pre-sale show was most ably judged by Mr G Todd of Blakehope Farm, Otterburn. The male championship was awarded to Demesne Bueth, a son of Hunter of Kilnstown the youngest bull forward in the sale presented by Mr Graham Noble of Demesne, Bewcastle. The female championship was also presented to the Noble family for their stylish maiden heifer Demesne Tamsin, also a daughter of Hunter of Kilnstown. She later sold for 1,000gns to Ballahary Farms Ltd of Isle of Man. The female trade throughout was marvellous with the regular consignments of cattle from Mr J little of Park Nook and Mr G Kyle of Spoutbank attracting great interest. The usual clientele competed strongly to make an excellent trade. Top price of the day was 1,500gns for a superb heifer shown by Mr P Jackson of Roan Farm, Newcastleton. Roan Border Alice 2nd, a daughter of the noted sire Huntly Yarrow and sold in calf to Councillor of Nether Rusko, was purchased by Messrs Wallace of Farney Shields, Hexham. The thousand pound barrier was regularly exceeded with Mr Keith Laurie
of Snowdon Close, Brampton receiving £1,300 for a heifer with a
particularly eyecatching calf. Averages – NON-PEDIGREE
