CHAMPION FEMALE SECURES TOP PRICE
A very stylish
bulling heifer consigned by R & M Ferguson of Barlaes, Castle Douglas secured
the leading price of 1,200gns on Friday 24th February 2006 at the annual spring
show and sale of Galloway breeding cattle at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.

Barlaes
Katy 41st, an April 2004 born daughter of Youngster of High Creoch and
out of a Glenapp bred mother, she was sold to H & J Smith of Wileysyke,
Gilsland.
Landlord of Kilnstown - 1000gns

Local breeders,
FA & A Waugh of Kilnstown, Bewcastle, lifted the top honours for their
bull entry Landlord of Kilnstown. Their rising two year old bull,
a son of John Jo of Kilnstown, was successfully purchased for 1,000gns
by north east enthusiast, C Anderson of Dunterley Farm, Bellingham.
Next in
the price tags was the reserve overall female champion, a bulling heifer
from RA McClymont & Son of Kirkstead, Yarrow, Selkirk. Selling
for 950gns, Kirkstead Nancy, an October 2003 born heifer by Hitman of
Nether Cleugh and bred out of a Huntly Yarrow sired mother, she was sold
to DF Whiteley of Pond Farm, Thirsk.
Close behind
at 900gns was another heifer from the Barlaes herd of R & M Ferguson. Barlaes
Grace 57th, also sired by Youngster of High Creoch, joins her champion winning
stable mate and goes to H & J Smith of Wileysyke.
Leading
the non-pedigree section were two bulling heifers offered by JW Forster & Son
of Smithsteads, Bewcastle. Selling for £720 each they were knocked
down to M & ME Wallace of Farney Shields, Hexham.
